Cultural Brokerage Program: Annual Evaluation & Model Review
Abstract
This year’s annual CCIS Cultural Brokering Program (CCBP) evaluation focused on better understanding and documenting CCIS’ model of Cultural Brokering. This was in response to CCIS’ recent scaling of their broker model and noticing increasing community interest in broker or broker-like solutions to system change. The focus of this evaluation was on CCBP and includes it’s complementary program offerings: Family Violence Education Sessions (FVES) (delivered by Family Violence
Brokers), and Temporary Accommodation (also known as ‘1310’) for low-risk perpetrators of family violence. The CCBP contract also includes allocation for use of CCIS Interpretation and Translation Services. The discussion of CCIS’ model of brokering is also informed by the recently established Youth Cultural Brokerage Program (YCBP) partnership with Calgary’s Youth Probation Office and by a past, Cultural Liaison role in partnership with Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (Luna CYAC) (2021-2022).
