Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN) 2020-2021 Annual Community Report
Abstract
This report presents an overview of the work that the EMCN has done in 2020 to help newcomers in Edmonton. These include the expansion of their language delivery programs; provision of online support for the Settlement in Schools program on top of its phone and face to face services; increased participation for the Safe Families Program; and many others. The year 2021 also celebrates 40 years of the EMCN.

Key findings
EMCN has over 20 programs for newcomers in Edmonton. In 2020 – 2021, highlights include:
1) Unique programming like the Rainbow Refuge for 2SLGBTQ+ refugees
2) 1200 students and 500+ children in daycare with their Language Centre
2) 3 centres, virtual services, and staff that cumulatively speak over 50 languages
